I love my new acaia black pearl scale for its contrast and bright display, quick response and many educational apps.
So, I'm lazy. Not really. Just busy. 11 year old triplets to rush out the door in the AM. Wife and my coffee to make in the AM. Goodgrains.com to arrive at fresh and ready to go. So, the thought of using a scale to make coffee honestly overwhelmed me a bit at first. But, I thought... I need to check this out and do it right if I'm going to make pour-over instead of our old pod system and prior to that old coffee pot. So, I took on the challenge. Took home this scale and started from there. The Fellow Pour over set has a convenient measuring piece which I used at first. Now, I simply start by adding a filter to the scale, hit the zero out button and weigh 60 grams of coffee. I get the exact amount needed to make two large cups for my wife and I. Not eye-balling it like before - which left me with some good cups and some bad cups. Instead a great consistent cup every morning. Also, once I do that, I put the Fellow Pour Over carafe on the scale. It includes the instructions and you can download an app that helps you save profiles if you get really geeky about it. So, although I was hesitant at first, I now totally get it. It does make a big difference and I love making coffee more than ever.
